Update on health care & the American Rescue Plan

Last week, the government gave health funds more direction about how President Biden’s COBRA plan will work.  Under this program, many Local 2 members might be eligible to get back on union health benefits at no cost between now and September 2021.  Click here for more information about who is and isn’t covered.  The trustees of the union’s San Francisco and San Mateo health funds are meeting this week, and letters will be mailed soon to explain what you need to do to enroll if you are qualified.

As we’ve said before, this COBRA plan will help many people between now and September. But it’s just a short-term and incomplete fix.   If you haven’t done so already, please join the hundreds of other Local 2 members and fill out this petition to Governor Newsom asking him to deliver on health care reform in California – so no worker ever has to go through what so many Local 2 members have experienced with the loss of health care coverage.
